The Devil's Forest
If you look at where I geotagged this, you'll notice it's in the water. If you search the same location on google earth, you'll notice the satellite view is of water as well. In fact, the water was a couple hundred yards away horizontally - but probably only 6 inches in elevation away.
That's some of the strangeness of the Salton Sea - one good rainstorm (since there's no outlet to this stagnant sea) and it can flood thousands of acres. Littered along the coast are destroyed remnants of houses, stores, and various other fixtures built before people really understood the what this place was like.
