Red Squirrel - Sciurus vulgaris

Red Squirrel, having a brush up. Seen at Walton Hall, Cheshire. Such a beautiful little creature!

Information about the Red Squirrel conservation at Walton Hall.

The project was to establish facilities for the captive breeding of the endangered Red Squirrel. The Red Squirrels are still endangered throughout the British Isles with the decline in populations.

The young are bred at Walton Hall Gardens and then handed over to the Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay who co-ordinate the Red Squirrel captive breeding programme.

Have a great day everyone :)
