Stylidium vinosum

The Stylidium vinosum flowers mid October.

The flowers are white with red markings, throat yellow with 3 pearlescent squares. The back of the petals is red-wine coloured. Has a long flower tube covered with glandular hairs.

The leaf rosette individual leaves have a white edge, with a small white hair at the end.

Here we see the labellum which sits directly under the flower to help guide the 'trigger' or column to sit in the correct position while it is set waiting for an insect to land on the flower to set it off.
