thoughts on lent

**tomorrow, ash wednesday... lent begins... many filipinos will troop to churches to hear mass... i'm not sure if i remember the words right.. but the priests (and/or lay ministers) would say these words as they put the cross marks on each forehead: "magsisi ka at talikdan ang iyong mga kasalanan... " (repent and turn away from your sins...)

every year, i know... we do the same rituals -- confessing our sins, sacrifices like fasting and abstinence and corporeal works of mercy... somehow, sometimes these works seem more traditional than devotional and sacramental... maybe... but, i believe, there is still faith in them...

and going on a soul trip recently, it brought me to realize some things... no matter how small your faith is... God will make use of that... for you to do things (even in the smallest proportions) for His glory...

being human we need constant reminders... we forget too easily... also, we are in constant need of repair... we will one day be whole if we let the Creator work on us... like trees that shed leaves in autumn... we look forward to spring... after all... that is the basis of our faith... EASTER! for we are easter people!
