THE WEATHER : Moderate to light snowfall yesterday morning petered out during the afternoon. Slight thaw of lying snow continuous since yesterday afternoon but generally 11cm snow depth remains this morning. Note very small diurnal temperature range with temperatures a fraction above freezing point. Today: Overcast with stratus cloud at 100m (cloudbase height data courtesy of Met Office). Visibility poor, approx 2500m, mist. Wind direction 070 deg ENE. Mean wind speed 4km/h with gusts to 7 km/h. Air temperature 0.4 deg C.Wind chill factor of 4 deg C so feeling very cold.
