Joliet, IL - City of Stone

We visited Joliet September 30, 2022 during a Route 66 Trip. Again on October 17, 2023 while visiting Chicago area relatives. Love this town with its historical buildings.
Joliet, Illinois was incorporated as a city in 1852. Joliet is part of Route 66 and has a museum downtown. The quarrying of limestone, earned Joliet the nickname “City of Stone.” I noticed this stone in some of the buildings and the Old Joliet Prison.
