My New Macro Setup

See my previous macro setup shot for more info. For Christmas I got the Canon Offshoe OC-E3 Cord and a Sto-Fen diffuser. It really changes the way I shoot macros. Not liking to use a tripod though, I have to hold the flash now so I attached (with rubberbands) an LED flashlight to the camera for shooting macros in the dark (which is most of the time). Unlike my previous paper bag diffuser, this one is quickly removable, durable, and fits in my pocket. It doesn't give the same black background effect though, it often lights up the background too. I liked the black backgrounds, but being different is good too.

Other than the flashlight attachment, four of the last six photos in my stream were shot like this. The wasp, Brownie, blob, and moth.

Update: My flash now wears two flashlights instead of attaching it to the camera. Much easier to use and I don't have to take it off when I disconnect the flash from the camera. Be sure to read about each version if you are interested in shooting macros with flash.
