Gaydon classic & commercial show 2017 (38)

I rode down to the Gaydon Classic and Commercial Show on the Sunday with Stewart Kaye, he only lives ¾ of a mile from me and we’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve not been before and never been to the British Motor Museum either so it was all new to me. It was a good day out, the sun must have shone because Stew was glowing with a sunburnt face on the way home. I’m not always very enthusiastic about taking photos at events like this as the wagons are generally too close to each other, it’s impossible to isolate most vehicles from each other but also because there is almost no scope for doing anything different to anyone else with a camera-or a phone camera come to that. I like to try and do something a little bit different to everyone else if I can and there isn’t any scope ay this type of event, especially considering that you have to keep moving as there is such a lot to see and you can’t linger and look for the different angle for too long. Not being in a position to travel at the moment I’m having to make the most of any photographic opportunity that comes my way and got stuck in with the 5D. having taken 350 shots at a very dull Honley Agricultural Show the afternoon before I rattled 250 off at Gaydon so I’ll have a few hours editing before I can upload them all. Considering the poor weather we’re getting in the Pennine Hills at the moment it’ll keep me occupied whilst it rains some more of this water that some clown insists that we need – not where I live we don’t! The light was challenging at times, a very bright sky which came and went continuously all day and the deep shadows between the closely parked motors and also on the shaded side of every vehicle led to a few blown highlights in the clouds even in raw files.
