Buckstones Sunset Oct 17th 2016 049
More from Buckstones, another evening, a Monday this time. I could see that might be in luck as I looked across the valley from work. I drove to the cafe for a quick sandwich for my tea and got up there. There had been showers around and I was hopeful for a rainbow. I got my rainbow but it was well to the left of my shot as the sun was almost at its furthest west before it set. The colours were fantastic. The sun was illuminating Buckstones and the clouds, there were patches of blue and a rainbow - could it be better? After the sun had set I carried on shooting as the scene was still looking good with a soft flat coloured light. I was shooting fast and handheld so I had to wind the ISO up. I dash about among the rocks, taking risks trying to get as many different perspectives as possible, a tripod would slow me down although I do like the discipline of working with one and probably will in the near future. As the sun dropped below the Pennine Watershed the bottom of the rainbow slowly disappeared, cut off at its base - a bit like me at the moment!
