What has it got in its pocketses?

Everything I carry in my pockets everyday:

iPhone 4S 32G

cotton handkerchief

Rolfs bifold wallet

keys on Mississippi State University keyring

SanDisk 8G USB memory stick

Sacajawea dollar coin (plus other spare change)

CountyComm stainless steel "Split Pea" peanut lighter - countycomm.com

Fischer Chrome Bullet space pen - spacepen.com

Fenix LD01 AAA LED flashlight - fenixlight.com

Spyderco Ladybug pocketknife - spyderco.com

In my job as a university sysadmin I've carried various multitools and such for years, but as I've moved up the chain into a management position (and out of jeans into chinos) my focus has shifted to having the minimal size, maximally functional instance of my EDC gadgets "just in case". I very often have another flashlight and pen and knife in my possession, and will have three or four of each if I have both my jacket and my laptop bag with me. But this is the pen I always have so I'm never caught without something to write with, and the flashlight I always have so I'm never caught without light, etc.

I've only recently added the peanut lighter to my loadout after years of lusting after classic Zippo lighters but not being willing to depend on something that could dry out so quickly. Personally, I hardly ever actually need a lighter, so I might go weeks or months without using it... and this is supposed to be the lighter I always have so I'm never caught without fire. I only recently found these super-tiny, airtight lighters from CountyComm.com that aren't supposed to dry out, and I'm looking forward to the first time I can whip one out, Prometheus-like, and provide flame to the shivering mortals.

I've been very pleased with the Spyderco Ladybug; it's the younger cousin of the Spyderco Native I carry in my jacket. I absolutely, positively love the Fenix LD01 flashlight, with its multiple output levels and incredible performance from a single AAA battery. If I had to give up everything on the list but one item, it would be the one I keep. I'm not sure why I have the dollar coin; I got it in change years ago and it was too cool to spend and I've had it ever since. I'm also not sure how anybody lives without a handkerchief, but maybe that's just because I've never tried.
