D E S I G N

I still have a few shots from New Zealand to look at but thought I’d give the southern land a break and look at a location I have been waiting to make my way to for a long time now.

I was recently in Perth for business and thought I would take along a camera in the event that I found the time to check out the wonderful Crawley Boat shed.

I arrived in Perth to howling wind and torrential rain and thought that my chances of a cracking shot were next to nill. The next morning I woke up to pretty much the same conditions but I saw no value in staying in my hotel room wide awake at 5:00am.

The clouds were thick and the light was flat so I decided to try something a little different and chose a super long exposure for the foreground water with some split grads turned upside down to excessively over-expose the sky.

My intention here was for an overstated and hyperbolised mono impression, which focused specifically on the compositional and symetrical aspects of this location and nothing else.

This probably isn’t for everyone but given the light wasn’t in my favour I wanted to use the opportunity to push some boundaries and see how something as extremely done as this could come together. I am still undecided on the outcome and I did shoot a different (equally as extreme) colour image, which I’ll post later.

View large and, as always, thanks for looking!
