LAGUNA DE QUILOTOA - Ecuador
El Quilotoa es un volcán lleno de agua en su cráter de 3 kilómetros de diámetro que se formó por el colapso de este volcán de dacita seguido por una erupción hace aproximadamente 800 años, lo que produjo un flujo piroclástico y lahares (flujos de lodo) que alcanzaron el Océano Pacífico.
Anteriormente al colapso se produjeron otras ocho grandes erupciones en el Quilotoa, la primera de ellas hace 200.000 años.
Quilotoa is a volcano filled with water in its 3-kilometer diameter crater that was formed by the collapse of this dacite volcano followed by an eruption approximately 800 years ago, which produced a pyroclastic flow and lahars (mudflows) that reached the Pacific Ocean.
Prior to the collapse, there were eight other large eruptions at Quilotoa, the first of them 200,000 years ago.
