at times 'worked to the bone' doesn't seem like just an expression. this guy works with his wife and two children along the riverbanks of a river leading out to sea. they pan for the silt and stones to make concrete. the back-breaking work pays around $30 a month. the most impressive aspect was how the man smiled the entire time i watched him work.
