Sea Shell. Live, on the sea shore.

LARGE is way better.

Sanibel, Florida is an amazing place! Not only will you find countless multicolored shells strewn all over the beaches, but occasionally, you will also find beached "live shells." Live shelling is prohibited by city ordinance.

The collection of dead shells (that is, those in which the mollusks are dead or gone) is permitted without any limits. The County Visitor and Convention Bureau urges everyone to return all live shells to the water. So, that is where this one went too, after its modeling assignment was over. :-)

A note about this photo (added later):

I deliberated quite a bit before posting this one. This is not the kind of photo that exactly warms your heart. I find subjects such as these fascinating. But, somehow, the glorious sunsets, the lush green meadows, the blossoming flowers and elegant birds end up getting all the kudos. (Not to mention cats and babies.) While I take photos mostly to satisfy personal artistic urges, I will not be entirely truthful if I say that I am completely impervious to how they are received. A conundrum, I have here. A small one, but a conundrum nonetheless. I wonder if anyone else empathizes with my condition.
