Candi Asu Bandungan

Location: Candi, Bandungan, Ambarawa, Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.

 

Candi Asu, asu meaning dog in Javanese, got its name from this stone statue of an animal. For me it rather looks like a numbat or banded anteater than a dog, but numbats are not to find on Java and the nose of the carving is less pointy.
