Oakland Post Redesign

Cover design for the September 1, 2010 issue of The Oakland Post at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. This was the first cover of the new semester and following the redesign that our staff worked on throughout the summer. The overall goal of the redesign process was to create a more reader-friendly product in terms of layout and content.

Some of the major goals of the redesign were to create a more uniform look through typefaces, color palettes, and all elements of page design. We also worked to expand the readability by creating more sidebars of continuing/expected content every week. Nearly all elements of the newspaper were redesigned including the logo, table of contents layout, all fonts (body copy, sidebars, headlines, etc...), colors, section titles, graphics, nation/world layout and the features section layout.

The idea behind this cover was to incorporate the elements of The Oakland Post's redesign (color palette and type faces). The campus was also under heavy construction in many areas which was tied into the theme of this cover: the campus and the newspaper being renovated.
