Yocum Falls

I explored this hard to find spot yesterday and as usual with Oregon waterfalls, I was pleasantly surprised at its beauty. I arrived at 5pm and the summer sun was brightly shining dappled light through the tall trees further down the creek. I know better than to take photos of waterfalls in these conditions as the highlights may look cool in the moment, but they are difficult to manage in processing. They mellowed out a little as the sun fell down below the trees and less harsh light was shining through but I should have waited until sunset which would have meant climbing back up the steep ravine and walking the trail back to my car to get some food and water. I decided against it though as I was a bit tired from trying to find the spot in the first place. It was a bit of a wild goose chase. So I'm calling it a scouting trip, and using that as my excuse for this imperfect image. I want to come back in fall and be parked here at 8-9am for my official shoot. So this image is more of a documentary image I guess.
