Finding Refuge, Roan Mountain, Appalachian Trail

Whew, it's been a while...and I hope everyone's doing well. I finally made a winter trip to Roan Mountain! What a ride. My buddy Tommy and I arrived before sunrise just in case something might break through (it never did). It wasn't terribly cold, low/mid-20s I think...but the wind oh boy. At the lower elevations around Carvers Gap, there was plenty of wind cover, but once we reached the top of Round Bald...my goodness. There were some brief pauses in the wind but the gusts were 35+ I'd say and if you had your face into it...any skin exposed felt burnt pretty quick. I wasn't sure I'd get any shots worth a darn, but luckily got a couple I think, this being one of them. It was the first time I've ever had my front lens element to start frosting over. Pretty harsh up there, but I'd do it again :-)
