Under the direction of Jimmy Page; who also took care of all the remastering, Led Zeppelin undertook a reissue programme of their back catalogue earlier this year. Apparently the classic; in many peoples' minds their best album, IV (or 4 Symbols or whatever) and Houses of The Holy are to be reissued sometime soon (now?). The first 3 albums (I, II, III) were reissued a couple of months back. These reissues come in several formats -from simple CD to Super Deluxe Boxsets. These latter formats have the proverbial everything-but-the-kitchen-sink included with them. Like with most "remasters" reissues people should ask these questions before thinking of buying them:
-Do they sound any better than the original vinyl?
-Are they just cashing in on the gullibility / credulity of some people that are willing to pay cash for something that they probably already possess several times over?"
-How many times have these albums been previously "remastered" and reissued?
-Are the boxsets, or deluxe editions, worth the price and do I really need an additional disc "of previously unreleased companion audio" (sic)?
Personally, I won't be buying any of them.
