Magma Ring (2009. IT) Ring 144.1

This ring is an experiment. I want to make more iron jewels with glass in them. So I make a hole in the metal, them I melt the glass in it. Some time ago I made a pendant (and here on modell), now I want to return to this theme.

On the pictures the ring got some backlight, on the finger the glass doesn't show such red and transparent.

I cold connected two nail heads into the shoulders of the iron ring. Then I made a groove along the inside of the central hole, just like we do it when inlaying. On one of the progress pics you can see this groove.

I used colourful beads, crushed by pliers. Then came my sweet oxy torch. It was not easy: The melt glass keeps producing big bubbles, just like magma. I don't know what damned gases are those and how could I get rid of them. Finally I stopped in a moment when the bubbles were reather small. Small bubbles are good.

Size: 7.25 (US)

Weight: 5.2 grams

The width of the ring head is 12.5 mm
