Es la imagen cristífera más antigua que procesiona en la Semana Santa de Sevilla. Se cataloga como obra anónima sevillana de la primera mitad del siglo XVI.
La Hermandad de la Santísima Vera-Cruz de Sevilla se funda en el año 1448, según consta en el archivo de la Hermandad, en el convento de la Casa-Grande de San Francisco de Asís y hace actualmente su estación de penitencia a la Santa Iglesia Catedral en la tarde del Lunes Santo. Los nazarenos de la cofradía visten túnica de ruán negro con cinturón y cíngulo franciscano de esparto, ya que desde 1.543 tiene carta de Hermandad con la Orden Franciscana.
It is the oldest image in the Holy Week processions in Seville. Is listed as anonymous work from Seville in the first half of the sixteenth century.
The Brotherhood of the Holy Vera Cruz was founded in 1448, as recorded in the archives of the Brotherhood, in the convent of the Casa Grande de San Francisco de Asis and currently makes his season of penance in the Holy Church Cathedral on the evening of Easter Monday. The Nazarenes of Rouen brotherhood black tunic dress with belt and girdle Franciscan "esparto", and that since 1543 has letter of the Franciscan Order Brotherhood.
