Day in — Day out (poem below)
You will find 190+ of my poems HERE. fno.org/poetry/index.html
This huge clock in the Musée d'Orsay — formerly the Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900 — seemed a good companion to a poem I finished writing this morning here in Paris.
Day in — Day out
The tide comes creeping in
Turgid
In no hurry
At all
Day after day
Rising
Then falling
Advancing
Then retreating
Repeating the pattern
Without skipping a single day
Time and tide
They say
Wait for no man
The grandfather clock
Ticking away
The sea rolling in
Day in
Day out
