One day a group of Victorian bright sparks sat together in a meeting room and one asked "how can we stop the spread of ill-health and disease?"
One responed "No idea, but I know this: we can scare the living shit out of people by creating something dark and terrible..........like a bat!
And so this gothic icon of doom and despair was born and word got around that terrifying patients was the best way to cut waiting times.
In the future an architect was commissioned to construct something so horrific, angels would fear to set foot inside - and so was created St James Hospital. Prospective patients have clung to their door handles in screams of terror as paramedics take them away to the prospect of being awoken from a visit by Jimmy Saville!
