Glasgow 13 July 2016-0174.jpg

South Portland Street Suspension Bridge in Glasgow - looking North. This bridge opened in 1853 but was reconstructed in 1871 due to sub Standard materials being used. More repairs were made in 1926, 1997 & it was repainted in 2005. These arches are rather imposing. All the suspension steel was replaced in 1871. The Forth Road Bridge was not the first Scottish suspension bridge to have faulty main cables.
