Celtic language Wikipedias over time ( Feb 06 - 07 )

The sharp rise in the previous chart is clearer if you switch to monthly data and clearly shows the article count growth is over the summer ( Students or a Bot )

Increasing by 1000 articles in one month ( Aug - Sep ) but no indicators of article quality.

Today the Welsh and Irish wikipedia have a much greater 'depth' ( frequency of use ) 21 and 18 vs 9 for Scottish Gaelic

Comparing the Celtic wikipedias by number of edits is a possible indicator of quality

Welsh -52200

Irish - 38959

Gaelic - 14410

-Update-

The figure for number of edits above are quite old

From 16 March 07

Welsh- 117378

Irish- 77692

Gaelic- 40369

I wonder if the Scottish Gaelic literacy problem is evident from this data?

Interesting comparison of Celtic language wikipedias where Breton appears to be kicking ass.

Also from the external wiki stats you can check Stub Ratios ( not sure what the definition of a stub is they use though and I don't believe it uses the category )

English 0.22

Welsh 0.41

Irish 0.47

Gaelic 0.5

Breton 0.51

These wikipedias are still young but I think we can gather some interesting information by looking at their growth patterns.
