Palladium Books: Free Game Opportunity ad
An ad for Palladium Books' free game opportunity, which I figured I would put on here in response to this: www.flickr.com/photos/terrible2z/2593874038/ You see, Erick Wujcik passed away earlier this month and he worked on the RPG book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness for Palladium as well as other role-playing games and computer role-playing games, and was co-founder of Palladium Books.
When I first saw this ad -- in '97 -- I thought, "Well, the Turtles all have red headbands, so that must mean they're all Raphael." Little did I know there was a company called Mirage Studios that published Ninja Turtle comic books, which featured the Turtles only wearing red headbands because I had only been exposed to the cartoon, movies, and live action show at the time. My ignorance was removed in later years when I started to get independent comics and discovered Ninja Turtle comics, which were great. That's for a story for another time, I think.
This ad appeared in The Sensational Spider-Man Vol. 1 # 13 in February of '97. I find it funny how a mainstream comic book company -- Marvel -- had an ad that had something to with indie comics. I guess they gotta get money somehow, though.
