Old Man of Storr Sunrise - Isle of Skye Photography Workshop
Last week I was lucky enough to lead a workshop on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Before I get into the bones of the description, I am already planning two more workshops here with significant interest in spaces already. If you would like to be the first to know when these are announced, sign up to my mailing list here: buff.ly/2pEmBH3
Anyway, back to it. The last thing I expected when planning this workshop for the last week of April was significant snowfall. But it came and we made the most of it.
On the second day and our first sunrise, I suggested with an apparent weather window we head up the Old Man of Storr. It was an 'in at the deep end' experience but that's sometimes how landscape photography works and you have to go with what's handed to you.
Fortunately, I had an amazing and very willing group who made the slog up in what I can only call full-on winter conditions. Bravo to them!
We couldn't get up on to the normal viewpoint as the winds were too strong, blowing us about along with some serious amounts of spindrift. So we dropped just below and stood on the sheltered side but the view was still awesome.
It was a difficult morning, trying to keep warm while waiting for the light but it came good for about a minute before we had to head back down.
Again, congratulations to the group for getting up there and experiencing what Scotland can offer. Here is a shot of the group patiently waiting for that perfect light.
Who knows what we could have if you join me next time?!
