The Winter Circle asterism shines brightly on a crisp clear night and reflects in the mirror like surface of Sulby Reservoir. Reflections like this are surprisingly hard to come by for astrophotography on the Isle of Man, because even the very slightest of air movement will disturb the water surface. The Island is quite a windy place generally, so I was blown away (forgive the pun) by how good the reflections were on this particular occasion. The little cap of mist around the summit of Snaefell and favourable alignment of Sirius with the hills were nice little bonus features. This image is a 5-image vertical panorama stitch taken with my 28mm prime which is my main astrophotography lens. Staring into the endless stars reflected in the water was like looking into another world ✨
