Sight for Sore Eyes

Minsk is sometimes spectacular - and sometimes not. Everything is huge and far apart, making use of the space available, and at its best it can be strikingly cohesive and impressive. That's mostly true in the city centre, around the older government and cultural buildings.

Then there are many massive buildings that are somehow underwhelming; either they've aged badly despite being relatively newer, or they just exist too far apart from surrounding buildings and as such just sit awkwardly in their environment. You're left wondering how the same city could have approved such contrasting successes and failures.
