Profile of an Aquult (specifically a Plinthaquult) in Venezuela

Some of the red bodies in the subsoil are plinthite. Plinthite is a firm, iron oxide rich concentration that irreversibly hardens after exposure to repeated wet dry cycles. Scale is in cm.
