Project 365:221

This afternoon I was given the key to my new house - or so the real estate agent told me. But it was The Wrong Key. Two calls to them, they couldn't find the right key, they would not call a locksmith but said I could send them the invoice if I called them. A call to my solicitor at ten to five on a Friday afternoon (thank goodness it wasn't ten past five) and they called the vendor's solicitor who agreed to accept the bill, my solicitor called The Lock Doctor and someone was there within twenty minutes to drill out the old locks and replace them. It took about an hour and a half and it was completely dark before he had finished. I couldn't put the outside light on to light the job for him as the switch is inside and we couldn't get inside.

Meanwhile, the estate agent had called me back demanding I return 'the wrong key' as it was the key to another property (well obviously!) and he needed. I told him he would have to come and get it and could have it when I had access to my property. He turned up while The Lock Doctor was there. Having walked past the van with the logo on, and past my door with the man working on the lock, he told me "we called The Lock Doctor but they said someone was already here". Yeah, right, of course you did (no, I did not believe him). He tried to make conversation but I just gave him the key and walked away.

To make it worse, I had arrived via a lift with a workman who was coming to quote to install a heat pump. Fortunately, he was able to see and measure enough through the back windows to be able to quote.
