Red whiskered Bulbuls
Pycnonotus jocosus in full song. These are wild birds - not escapees. The species, found in the wild from Nepal to Vietnam is endangered in Thailand where hey are much prized as a caged birds for traditional birdsong contests. A permit is now officially required to keep one. Specimens are now a rarity in the Bangkok and central pains area of Thailand: some authors having it as extinct in the wild in these locations. Not so. This pair were seen on several occasions at my house in Pathum Thani and apparently returned the following season.
