Loch Leven, Kinlochmore, Highlands. Scotland
A view looking down Loch Leven to the majestic “Pap of Glencoe” (742m) on the left which dominates the horizon. Its characteristic conical shape rises steeply, a perfect, dramatic peak of rock and scree that guards the entrance to the famous glen, and to the right is the broader, more imposing form of “Mam na Gualainn” (796m) that anchors the opposite side of the loch. Its slopes are rugged and vast, clothed in heather and grass, looking solid and immutable under the brilliant sky. In the foreground, stand two magnificent, mature Scot’s Pines as stoic sentinels, their rugged, reddish-orange bark glowing where the sun strikes it. Their dark green canopies provide a dramatic contrast against the softer, paler hues of the surrounding grove of Silver Birch and heather.
