Leaderfoot Viaduct, Melrose, Scotland.

The category A Listed Leaderfoot viaduct was opened 16th Nov 1863 and stands 126 ft from the floor of the River Tweed, it has 19 arches, each of 43 ft span, they and their supporting piers are brick and the walls are red faced rustic sandstone giving the overall look of the bridge a colourful appearance. I had the privilege of walking right across the bridge a number of years ago and relished the views from it, but it is now closed to the general public. The bridge is in the care of Historic Environment Scotland.
