Horace Silver's Quintet was one of my favorite groups to appear at the Left Bank Jazz Society's concerts at the Famous Ballroom in Baltimore, Maryland during the mid sixties. Just recently, I attended the Detroit International Jazz Festival, where Horace Silver was honored and his music was highlighted. I attended a panel discussion that included two of his former sidemen, Randy Brecker, trumpet, and Benny Maupin, wind instruments.
