Lyndsey is six and a half years old. But not like 1988's version of being six and a half like her Dad had, her's is the 2013 version. Full of endless outside stimulation. Netflix has all of her favorite shows at her beck and call. Her LeapFrog Leapster would eat the Game Boy alive. High fructose syrup surges through her veins.

It's easy for her to get bored. "There's nothing to do!", she'd lament when her binge session of My Little Pony or whatever show that was the flavor of the week had come to an end. That is something I'd hear pretty frequently up until this year. Something is changing.

Correction: Someone is changing.

More time is being spent creating with her LEGOS and painting than watching Hulu and playing video games. Seems like every hour these days she's asking me to "come look at what I made" and I enter her room/ gallery to view the latest masterpiece. I love that feeling. I love that she is using her imagination to stimulate her mind. I especially love that she is finding and embracing her creative side. The key is her holding on to it.

It can take a while to get it back once you let it go.
