My ntl broadband connection went down a few days ago. I called ntl's customer service line and they were closed (it was past 10pm). I called them the next day from work and they said everything looked fine on their end. They wanted to know what lights were flashing on my cable modem, but I told them I was at work, and I didn't remember. ntl basically told me they couldn't do anything.
I signed up for Magnet's Fibre to the Home broadband service after two days of no connectivity with ntl. ntl magically started working again and now I can compare them side-by-side.
I'm going to drop ntl soon. Their broadband service sucks (it constantly goes down for hours at a time) and their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced from any company in the States and in Ireland. It takes at least 6 tries before anyone even picks up their customer service phone line and half the time their reps don't know what the hell is going on.
They had my address wrong in their system and all my bills came late. I have the 40GB/month package and they sent me a letter saying that they were going to cancel my account if I went over 1GB/day. My friend was told they didn't service his area even though the previous tenant still had an account.
The whole company sucks gigantic donkey balls.
