"Why me?" he asked. "Is it because I have a big nose?"
"Of course not," I said. "You just seem like a very interesting character."
And a great character he was (although I couldn't quite convey that with my longish lens). He had a horse head walking stick and a sort of Bohemian presence. He maintained his self-deprecating humor and this playfully skeptical smile throughout as if to say "What are you doing, kid? Look at all these pretty girls around."
He was a very, very cool guy.
I need to start carrying with me one of my smaller cameras with something close to about 50mm.
P.S. Before allowing me to photograph him, he asked that he take my picture first. He gave me his hat and cane and - somewhat surprisingly - nailed the focus! I am still not going to post them, though. :)
