Operation Stack 6 - September 2008
On Thursday there was a fire in the Channel Tunnel that connects Britain to France.
All traffic through the tunnel was suspended, leaving the cross channel ferries to take all the traffic.
With so much freight traffic bound for the continent, the M20 Motorway was closed between Maidstone and Ashford to park the trucks until they were allocated crossings on the ferries.
This morning the trucks were still being parked for at least eight miles, bumper to bumper, with more joining the queue as others left for thier ferry.
Taking to the minor roads and country lanes I managed to find most of the bridges over the motorway and took a series of photographs of the stranded truckers.
