Ferguslie Residents Campaign for Tannahill’s Community Wing (14)

Ferguslie Park Community Council members gathered in the back garden of Chairperson John McIntyre to campaign for Tannahill’s Community Wing, who allegedly won’t allow the committee members the use of the building on behalf of Ferguslie parks residents and voluntary groups.

The council leaders badly need premises in order to raise funding for projects already up and running all be it on a voluntary capacity.

One of these projects already visited by the Lord Provost Lorrain Cameron, herself impressed by all the selfless work spearhead by Treasurer; Karen Campbell which badly needs funds for the simple things like garden tools.

So the need for an official office inside the Tannahill centre would allow Ferguslies resident a drop in headquarters while allowing the community leaders a base to orchestrate the resident’s project needs, would go a long way for the community to have its own voice to promote what the people want.

Tonight’s meeting brought together Chairperson; John McIntyre and Secretary; Terry McTernan along with Marc Small, Chris Tulloch, Donald Hampson & Anna Hampson who strategized ways to highlight their concerns.

Though face to face meetings and emails have proven unsatisfactory between both parries the community are still in favour of continuing communications in order to resolve the need for part of the Tannahill to be given over to the people. Though Tannahill, it said, would rather rent out space at a price the F.P.C.C members find unacceptable. Much like no one knows how much Tannahil are making each year and how much of that is finding its way back into Ferguslie parks residents hands and projects.

Plus given the size of the Tannahill centre, how difficult is it to access a small office in a building that many are say was built for Ferguslie’s residents and community leaders, now left out in the cold…
