One of the most wonderful thing about the the twin city is its surroundings. Starting from the Margala Hills National Park at the edge of Islamabad, the range of Himalayan foot hills starts which seems to be never ending. In a single day trip there are so many options for everyone, either you are a trekker or just fond of picnic in a nature.
These mountain peaks toward north takes you to the nice town of Murree, also known and Malika-e-Kohsar, which mean the Queen of Hill. Being only at an hour drive northeast of Islamabad, its a place where lofty peaks tower above green pine-covered slopes, and is the most popular and visited summer resort in Pakistan.
As you move forward, there are series of Galis, small towns like Daryagali, Khairagali, Dungagali & Nathiagali.... which are more peaceful than the bazaars of Murree and there are so many options of small hiking trips.
One of option is Mukshpuri, a beautiful hill, second highest of peak in the region with a series of wooden spurs toward Jhelum Valley. The 9,200 feet above sea level, take a look at the beautiful Top of Mukshpuri.
