Demand for collaboration.

International aid agency Save the Children surveyed over 15,000 children on the recovery process in post-tsunami Japan. About 70 per cent of children interviewed in Save the Children’s June 2012 ‘Hear Our Voice’ survey said that they wanted to play a role in the recovery process. Youth representatives at the World Ministerial Conference on Disaster Reduction in Tohoku, in July 2012, asked for children’s opinions to be heeded in addition to listening to adults. They also asked that child-centered disaster risk reduction programmes be set up everywhere in the world and proposed the establishment of a system where children around the world can collaborate.
