iPlaid34 (sooooo busy - catching up soon!)
Get Pushed Round 15
Alrighty then - for round 15, I was paired up with the immensely talented Bhawi. For someone who's only been into photography for a couple years, she's done quite well! Her challenge to me was to get in touch with my softer, feminine side. "This doesn't necessarily mean that I want you to go out shooting flowers though. I quite like the idea of shooting something white on white, totally devoid of colour yet not BW either. Or if your really can't stay away from colour, make it pale/pastel."
Well anyone who's been following me knows that I love colors (and colours too!) and saturation and HDR and bold and brash photography. But, this is a challenge and we are pushed to step out of our comfort zone and try something different! So, I went with the "white on white" idea (which isn't as easy as it sounds! ). I asked a friend if she wanted to wear her wedding dress again or knew of someone who did. Apparently I asked the right person, because my friend Cheryl from work owns an incredible amount of white clothing. We didn't even get to the wedding dress, as I think we captured some great shots as it is! (see more here!)
I have to say that the hardest part was getting the lighting right. My lights definitely aren't powerful enough and I had to fix things a bit in post to get rid of the backdrop. I think I need to get another flash unit too, because one just isn't enough.
So there you have it Bhawi! My feminine side with nod toward your British-ness! I hope you like it and I hope I've met your push! Thanks for a fun assignment!
Happy New Year everyone - I look forward to your challenges in 2012!!!
