Queensboro Plaza
This was taken with for a test roll on my hassie back in the fall of 2007 while waiting for the 7 train in Queens to take me home to where i used to live in Flushing.
I remember now how great it is to use a camera with a waist level viewfinder for city/street photography. When you have a big bulky camera by your waist and you're looking down at it, people don't seem to 'see' it as a camera. It also helps to stand with the camera facing 90' to either side of you so you're even more discreet. It doesn't have the "Watch out! He's taking a photo and we might be in it!" shock value of a big SLR raised up to your face.
I think TLR cams are a bit more noticeable. My friend's Rolleiflex is a big hit everywhere she goes and people love to compliment it. Whereas the hassy/pentacon type cameras seem to be completely overlooked because most people don't seem to understand what it is at first glance. Anybody else had a similar observation?
I plan to load some ISO 3200 b&w film and carry that around in my hassie.
