U-Wing (1)

Like most people it seems, I’ve been interested in the U-wing's design ever since the very first concept art image of it was released well over a year ago. Since then we were slowly shown more and more angles of the ship along with the official Lego set until finally the film came out. It was then that I started making… And This has been a permanent resident on my build table ever since so, I’m quite glad to finally see it finished if I’m honest!

I feel the lack of reference material at the time I started making has caused a few issues with the proportions and scale. I’ve gone into more detail about the specific areas that have been impacted most on other picture’s descriptions but the short story is that I’m planning to rebuild it… just not for a while! Having spent the best part of five months trying to get this finished I’m not about to start over anytime soon :P

I have to give a big thanks to Kit Bricksto who gave me great advice throughout the build and provided me with the motivation to keep going and get it done at last! He also let me use his (IMO) perfect cockpit area design which I have to admit is probably the most accurate part of the build! Check out his WIP picture here: www.flickr.com/photos/kit_bricksto/34815561821

Overall, I’m very happy to finally take this away from the build table and add it to my fleet of star ships. Feel free to leave feedback about the model and any ideas for improvements that could be made for next time (whenever that may be) is especially welcome!
