Barack Obama Rally
by interpunct
Grant Park, Chicago, IL USA!
There was such an energy in the park. People were calm, nervous, and hopeful. When CNN called the election, people were cheering, screaming, laughing, crying, hugging, and giving high-fives. Perfect strangers would bump into each other and instead of exchanging nasty looks, they would exchange smiles and hand shakes. There was dancing and merriment and lots of camera flashes going off. On the walk out of the park, the crowds completely filled up the streets coming from Grant Park as well as all lanes of Michigan Avenue for as far as the eye could see. At about midnight, a Chicago Tribune van was handing out newspapers with the headline "It's Obama".
If I believed in God, I would thank God for giving Barack Obama the chance to lead our country, but since I don't, I'll thank America! Thank you!
