Orbis Ring Flash Mod 2 - Holder (Part 3)
For basic information see parts 1 and 2. This is the detailed stuff for DIYers. Please don't ask me for dimensions / measurings, since the highly depend on camera and strobe geometry and your personal preferences.
A - aluminium, 3mm; stable but lightweight; of course you can use thicker Al or steel
B - camera platform
C - strobe platform
D - long holes for tripod screws (see picture 2 for details)
E - small screws holding camera plate firmly in place
F - foam rubber
G - 4 inch wide velcro (soft)
H - double-sided velcro strap
I - tripod connector 3/8 inch
J - strobe stand
K - camera plate holding strobe stand; and connecting holder to tripod
L - hole for strobe stand, hidden in all pictures
M - middle part, length depends from your equipment
N - screw holding camera (plate), screw must be long enough to compensate for the aluminium plate
O - camera (plate)
P - make sure the space is wide enough for safely holding / operating your camera
One last thing: this is the very first prototype of my Orbis holder. I might modify it in the future, but for now I'm going to stick with it for a while.
Strobist info: shoot through umbrella (Westscott collapsible), pocket wizards, Nikon Coolpix P5100 on a tripod. Umbrella above camera left, white board on camera right.
