Redwood Enchantment
On Day 2 of our quest to search for Rhodies, Jave, Alan, and I ventured just south of crescent city to Del Norte Redwoods State Park. As we began hiking, we were constantly scanning the forest for any patches of Rhododendrons blooming. Seemingly, we were late to the show in Del Norte as majority of the Rhododendron trees were past peak and had already lost their blooms. Further to our dismay, the dense morning fog did not reach this part of the forest. Hope seemed lost as it appeared we were hiking just to burn calories.
And then it happened. Some light patchy fog began to creep through the forest as the morning sun rose higher into the sky. There were two beams at first. Upon seeing the potential beginning of a light show, we all dropped our bags and grabbed our gear. As we setup, the light show exploded. Boom….light beams radiated in all directions as the once dull forest came alive scintillating with glowing warmth. Hands down the best light beams I have ever witnessed.
P.S. No pixels were harmed using radial blur to concoct imaginary light beams.
