Weathering the Storm
Keeping the tree theme going from my previous post, here is one of the giant sequoias during a heavy snowstorm from over a year ago. Winter took a hiatus for most of January and February but delivered a massive snow storm in the sierras early March. Jeff and I decided to make a visit up to the sequoia groves for fresh snow contrasting with the red-orange tree bark.
There was so much snow parked cars were completely buried and at many spots the snow depth was above my hip. Nonetheless we had a blast exploring the sequoia groves and marveling at their sheer size. Despite having a tough time snowshoeing anywhere due to the depth of snow, we still managed to find various scenes of tree groupings. For this one I waited for the snowfall to subside a bit while trying to capture some of the flakes coming down.
