Perched high above at around 10,000 feet elevation, the white mountains are home to the ancient bristlecone forest. Here, blistering winds and harsh winters shape the trees into having twisted branches and leaning trunks. One of the more well-known trees, this ancient dweller succumbed at some point leaving behind a ghostly and gnarled frame. Without leaves and consisting only of twisted trunks and branches, it is the dead trees that are typically the most photogenic. Luckily for us, some monsoonal clouds lasted into sunset for a beautiful evening up in the mountains.
